Scope of Practice

Specialties: My specialty involves treating individuals with psychological, neuropsychological, and psychiatric disorders.  These include stress-related problems (e.g., anxiety and depression, autoimmune and allergic disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia, headaches, hypochondriasis, post-traumatic stress disorder, and rheumatoid arthritis) and problems in living (e.g., children and in-laws, divorce/separation, living and financial conditions, pregnancy, relationships and marriage, sleep and sexual problems, and work-related issues and career changes). 

Services - Assessment: My services include psychological evaluation and assessment of children (e.g., attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorders; learning problems; motor development; pervasive developmental disorders; and speech-language issues), adolescents (e.g., conduct and oppositional disorders; substance abuse; and Tourette's disorder), and adults (e.g., cognitive and intellectual problems including the early detection of dementia, and mood and psychosomatic disorders).

In the area of neuropsychological assessment, I perform neuropsychological evaluations of patients with attentional issues (ADHD), learning disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders (e.g., autism, Asperger's syndrome), obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), dementia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson's disease), stroke, and traumatic brain injury affecting higher cognitive abilities (e.g., memory, intellectual abilities, perception, and attention).

Services - Treatment: Psychological and neuropsychological treatment of individuals and groups includes cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and systemic (e.g., marital counseling) therapies as well as cognitive remediation and rehabilitation of patients with intellective and memory problems (e.g., dementia including Alzheimer’s disease), and consultation to patients and families with mental illness and developmental disabilities.

I work holistically and in a multidisciplinary framework with other professionals including primary care physicians for medical issues, psychiatrists for central nervous system medications, nutritionists for dietary advice and weight loss, physiatrists who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation for pain and back disorders, as well as speech-language, physical (gross-motor), and occupational (fine-motor) therapists.
